18-Dec-2025: TTT - Anna University Regional Campus, Madurai

The LEAP program, in association with Anna University, organized ME25C025 – Re-engineering for Innovation at the Anna University Regional Campus, Madurai. This three-day initiative was designed to provide faculty members with practical, hands-on experience in product innovation and re-engineering.

Day 1 introduced participants to the fundamentals of embedded systems and microcontroller modules. Faculty members gained practical skills in microcontroller programming through interactive tasks such as controlling LEDs and working with sensors. They also explored wireless communication technologies, using the ESP32 platform to operate LEDs via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Day 2 centered around reverse engineering. Faculty teams disassembled and analyzed common household appliances, including iron boxes, table fans, mixer grinders, and electric kettles. The session emphasized visual thinking, the role of technical drawings, and the creation of Bills of Materials (BoM). By the end of the day, each team had proposed a functional enhancement for their chosen product and begun developing their concept.

Day 3 was dedicated to finalizing and implementing these enhancements. Teams successfully developed working prototypes, including an ESP32-based smart fan automation system, a smart electric kettle, and a Wi-Fi-enabled smart iron box control system using the Blynk platform. The program concluded with team presentations, where each project was demonstrated and reviewed, followed by constructive feedback and suggestions from the LEAP team.
