TTT - Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli

LEAP conducted the Faculty Development Program titled ME25C025 – Re-engineering for Innovation at Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli. The three-day program was designed to provide faculty members with practical exposure to the concepts of product innovation and redesign through interactive, hands-on activities.

On the first day, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of embedded systems and microcontroller architecture. Faculty members developed practical skills in programming microcontrollers through activities such as controlling LEDs and integrating sensors. They also explored wireless control techniques using the ESP32 platform to operate LEDs through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The second day focused on reverse engineering. Faculty teams dismantled and analyzed household appliances including Iron box, Table fan, Induction stove and Mixer grinder. The session emphasized the significance of technical drawings and the preparation of Bills of Materials (BoM). By the end of the day, each team proposed a feature enhancement for the product they had reverse engineered.

On the final day, teams continued refining their ideas and developed working prototypes such as a Distance based automatic tilting fan system, Smart Iron box (with the help of Ultrasonic sensor), Bluetooth Controlled Smart Iron box etc...The program concluded with team presentations where the prototypes were demonstrated and evaluated, followed by feedback and suggestions from the LEAP team.

Participants: 39 faculty participated in the TTT Program
